How Large KeepCup Corks are Eco-Friendly.
Using your KeepCup has the potential for you to save hundreds, maybe even thousands, of disposable cups from going to landfill.
KeepCups are made from a toughened soda lime glass. This is the most common form of glass. It can be recycled many, many times. So once you are finished with your cup, simply recycle and let it start a new life as something else.
The cork band is made in Portugal using the waste product from wine cork manufacture.
Why choose KeepCup?
KeepCup began with a brother and sister team who ran their own cafe in Melbourne. They were astonished at the amount of disposable cups that were used and wanted to make a change to create sustainably produced, quality and reusable coffee cups. With their knowledge as experienced barista’s they have produced a beautiful, durable cup that works for both the user and the barista.
Since 2009 KeepCup have sold over 8 million KeepCups globally. This in turn has diverted billions of disposable cups being made and sent to landfill after just one use.
Caring for your KeepCups.
The cork band is a natural biodegradable product. The cork may stain and darken. We encourage you to view this as a natural patina to the product.
Do not microwave KeepCup Brew Cork Edition, it will accelerate the deterioration of the cork band by drying it out. For longevity, we advise customers to hand wash only and to never remove the cork band, over time it will form a tight bond to the tumbler. For best results, leave the KeepCup Brew Cork Edition to dry prior to its next use.
Do not wash with abrasive cleaners or steel wool
KeepCups can be heated to 100°C with the lid off. Please keep the plug open if your cup contains boiling hot water. This will prevent pressure from building up from the steam.
KeepCups are made from toughened soda lime glass. It is surprisingly tough but not unbreakable so please take good care of your cup.
Please note that sudden changes in temperature may cause the glass to break or shatter.
Do not place cup in a wet sink or on a wet cloth when hot.
Due to the variation in the circumference of the blown glass, your lid is hand fitted to the glass and may not be compatible with other lids.
