Looking after your reusable period underwear, sanitary pads or menstrual cup is important, but it doesn't need to be difficult. Here are the cleaning products and accessories we recommend here at Reuseful.
When switching to reusables products for our periods, we do need to factor in cleaning. But it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Here's what we recommend based on which reusables you use;
Your menstrual cup just needs a cup cleanser. Here at Reuseful we have two for you to choose from;
You don't technically need anything other than your usual laundry powder or liquid to clean your period underwear, but you may prefer something a little more.
For me, I rinse my period underwear, either when I take them off, or at the end of the day, and I use the probiotic soap to help hand-wash as much of the blood away as I can. I then pop them into the washing machine on a cool wash.
They can then be hung to dry on the washing line, or using one of these handy laundry hangers.
Cleaning your Hannah pads is very similar to cleaning period underwear. When you take them off, or at the end of the day rinse away as much blood as you can and then hand-wash with some probiotic soap before popping them into the washing machine. Because these sanitary pads are made from unbleached cotton, you may find some stains appear over time. A stain remover is then recommended if you want to get your pads back to looking like new.
We also recommend the laundry hanger for drying your reusable sanitary pads, especially as they can be easily moved inside/outside all in one go.
